What is Seaweed Admin? #

Seaweed Admin is a powerful tool that allows you to manage your SeaweedFS distributed file system with ease. The first feature of Seaweed Admin is point-in-time recovery to ensure the safety and integrity of your data.

With Seaweed Point-in-time recovery, an administrator can recover a file, a directory, or a directory tree from a specific point in time. This feature is especially useful when you need to recover data that has been accidentally deleted or corrupted.

Why Seaweed Admin is closed source? #

SeaweedFS is an open-source project with Apache 2.0 license, and we are committed to keeping it that way.

However, SeaweedFS still has many areas to improve. To achieve the best possible service to SeaweedFS users, we have decided to make Seaweed Admin a closed-source project, in order to make SeaweedFS itself a sustainable project.

Seaweed Admin is a powerful tool to ensure data safety. This is critical for business users, yet not so much for individual users. We believe that by making Seaweed Admin a closed-source project, we can provide better service to business users, and at the same time, keep SeaweedFS open-source and free for individual users.
